Future Rockies too valuable to be dealt

Baseball America’s John Manuel includes Colorado Rockies pitching prospects Esmil Rogers and Jhoulys Chacin among his list of major league prospects to valuable to be dealt at baseball’s trade deadline. But he asks an interesting question: if the Rockies could get Roy Halladay from the Blue Jays for only these two prospects, should they make the deal? Not that there are rumors suggesting they could — in fact, the price is likely much higher than that. But it really frames the debate about the future of the Rockies pitching staff:  Halladay would be a huge gain for the team, but the Rockies would likely rent him for a season and a half. Even though he’s from Denver and Coors Field isn’t nearly as treachorous as it once was, future Hall of Famers are not inclined to spend their primes pitching in the stadium. Chacin and Rogers, while neither is on his way to the Hall of Fame or even in the majors yet, potentially could anchor the Rockies pitching staff for years to come. What would you do?
