Like 2007 all over again for Rockies?

More journal entries from Steve Foster »
For anyone who’s sensed a bit of the Rockies’ historic run to end the 2007 playing out in the past month, here’s another nugget for your perusal. Matt Herges, who along with Manny Corpas anchored the bullpen down the stretch run that season, has — like he did in 2007 — joined the Rockies on a minor-league contract.
Herges, who was released by the Cleveland Indians last week, was 2-1 with a 3.55 ERA in 21 games this season. He will pitch for Triple-A Colorado Springs, but this time is likely no more than a backup plan for the Rockies bullpen. Of course, that’s all he was in 2007, when he was recalled in July and kept the Rockies alive game after game with extended appearances, including a three-inning gem in the biggest game of them all, No. 163 against the Padres.
