Pet airline puts paws down in Colorado

This is one flight where things are guaranteed to get hairy.
The world’s first airline for pets will land in Colorado for the first time today — hopefully not in a big cloud of fur.
The aptly named Pet Airways, which caters to passengers of the four-legged, tail-wagging variety, is expected to touch down this afternoon at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport in Broomfield. The flight is taking off from Chicago, one day after the scrappy, new airline became operational.
The fleet of planes, mew-ly converted Beechcraft 1900 turboprops, is operated by Suburban Air Freight, an Omaha-based cargo transport company. Pets will have something to yap about: They get to ride the main cabin — inside animal carriers, of course.
Denver is one of five major cities that the airline serves. The others are New York, Washington, Chicago and Los Angeles. Flights for the first two months are sold out.
Ticket prices average $250 one way. It’s a matter of opinion whether that’s paw-try.
Keep looking up, Colorado. Maybe the plane will wag its wings as it flies over.
