Pez dispenses with the pleasantries

Pez isn’t very sweet.
At least, not to a California couple who created a shrine to the goofy candy dispensers.
Don’t get me wrong. Gary Doss and his wife, Nancy Yarbrough Doss, love the candy. They created the Burlingame Museum of Pez Memorabilia to honor the stuff.
On the other hand, the candy maker — Pez Candy Co., of Linz, Austria — has left a bitter taste in their mouths after slapping them with a lawsuit for trademark infringement.
It seems the company didn’t like the museum’s heady idea to build the world’s biggest Pez dispenser, which at 7 feet 10 inches tall, has been recognized by Guinness World Records. The confectioner also wants to grab all of the profits that the museum has made over the last 14 years.
Pez has created more than 550 different versions of its famous pocket mechanical dispensers, which have a huge following of collectors.
You’d think the company wouldn’t pop its top over a little extra publicity.
