  • Early Broncos prediction: 10-6 (Steve Foster) — It’s been an unusual summer. Here it is, the last week of July, Denver Broncos rookies are reporting to camp and the full squad comes later this week. In any other year, it’s already Broncos season. But this summer, we have the Colorado Rockies to occupy our attention. What the Rockies do in their next 10 games seems more urgent than what the Broncos will do in the next month and beyond.
  • Is Xcel solar fee idea a mega what? (John Moore) — This might get you charged up. Xcel Energy is thinking about zapping customers with a fee when they don’t use electricity. You read that right. The company is considering slapping a monthly connectivity fee on customers who install solar panels on their homes after April of next year.
  • Coke’s new fizzy milk seems sure to fizzle (Cindy House) — Coke is test-marketing fizzy milk drinks in New York under the brand name Vio. The ingredients: skim milk, carbonated water, fruit and sugar. It’s available in four flavors — Tropical Colada, Citrus Burst, Peach Mango and Very Berry. Insert your own New Coke joke here. Go ahead — I’ll wait.
  • Chinese buses hit the bricks, and vice versa (John Moore) — This sounds off the wall — and, come to think of it, it just might be. A Chinese bus company has started putting bricks on its vehicles. Not for unruly passengers, but for smashing out the windows if people need to escape in an emergency. Considering the size of the bricks, this could be more than just a token attempt at public safety.
