Calm, cool summer for Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets accomplished their No. 1 priority — perhaps their only real goal — by signing Chris Anderson early in the offseason. Since then, the team has lost Dahntay Jones in Indiana and Linas Kleiza to Greece, re-signed Anthony Carter and made a couple of minor trades. But more or less, the Nuggets will get started in October with a team that looks very much like the one that ended things in May.
Scott Howard-Cooper at SI.com reports that the team has remained optimistic about its chances this season despite other teams in the West — namely the Lakers, Spurs and Trail Blazers — making significant improvements. As Chris Tomasson wrote for the RMI earlier this summer, however, the Nuggets’ best moves — for example, first getting Allen Iverson then dumping him — have come during the season rather than the offseason.
