Two Denver swimming pools are going to the dogs this Sunday.

Pet owners can take their favorite pooch for a dip at Berkeley Park (5031 W. 46th Ave) or Cook Park (7100 Cherry Creek South Drive) as part of the Denver DogaPOOLooza.

The event is sponsored by Denver Parks and Recreation, Denver Environmental Health and Denver Animal Care and Control.

Two 90-minute swim sessions will be held at each pool, with the first starting at 9 a.m  and the second at 11 a.m. Each pool can accommodate up to 100 dogs at a time, and it will cost $5 per animal per session. Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis, and all dogs must be licensed and vaccinated before they can participate in the swimfest.

And don’t worry — the pools will be closed for the summer for human swimmers the day before.

While the dogs are cooling off in the water, their human companions can find out more about Denver’s Dog Park Master Plan from Parks and Recreation staff members.

And if someone wants to add to their canine family, dogs will be available for adoption at Berkeley Park, with Denver Animal Care and Control staff on hand to process the paperwork.
