The Colorado Rockies, in need of bullpen help after Jhoulys Chacin and Josh Fogg combined for seven innings Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates, optioned Chacin to Triple-A Colorado Springs and purchased the contract of Adam Eaton from the Sky Sox.

Chacin, who pitched five innings in four relief appearances and allowed just one run, battled command problems in his first major league start Tuesday. He allowed just one hit but walked six in 2 2/3 innings before being pulled for Fogg.

Eaton, who the Rockies signed to a minor league contract in June, is 3-3 with a 2.67 ERA in 12 appearances — 10 starts — for Colorado Springs. He started eight games earlier this season with the Baltimore Orioles, going 2-5 with an 8.56 ERA.
