‘The Highwayman’ to begin filming in Denver

The Colorado governor’s mansion will play a starring role when filming of the action-adventure movie The Highwayman begins Friday in Denver.

The film, which is also a romantic ghost story set in 18th century England, is based on Alfred Noyes’ 1906 poem of the same name. The mansion’s Colonial Revival architecture makes it an ideal location for some of the movie’s scenes, and crews will be filming there for three days.

The filmmakers note that the plains east of Denver bear a striking resemblance to the English Downs.
